Steel Sheet Pile Wall Dunes Restoration

In order to prevent a breach of the barrier island during a storm, we associates to install a 4 mile long steel sheet pile wall within the sand dunes on the beach in Mantoloking. The Sheets are uncoated marine steel 45 feet long and ½” thick. They are driven into the sand 30 feet below mean sea level in the dunes between the houses and the ocean.

There is a steel cap on the top at elevation 15 feet above sea level and a filter fabric apron extending 10 feet behind the wall to reduce erosion if the waves overtop the wall.

99 ladders are also installed on the ocean side in the sand in case the beach is eroded by a storm and people need to exit.
