Sheet piles HP 140S-4 and HP 140S-5 have experienced unprecedented HP 140S-6 growth as result of increased imports. Deep reinforced footing keys shall be designed as cantilevers supported at the bottom of the footing and they shall be HP 140S-4 designed for the load produced by the force, PR. To reduce the possibility of hand injuries, the Contractor shall ensure that all employees working under their control, including subcontractors and sub-tiers, utilize gloves while HP 140S-5 working on Port Construction Projects.

However, the communities adjacent to the Port of Los Angeles -- Wilmington, Harbor City and San Pedro -- have not seen the benefits of growing HP 140S-6 trade with the Pacific Rim. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to supply the proper glove for the task and train the employees in relation to WAC 296-800-16065. The wall stems of HP 140S-7 cantilever walls shall be designed as cantilevers supported at the footing. In fact, they face some of the highest rates of poverty and unemployment in the region. The face walls of counterfort and buttress walls shall be designed as fixed or continuous beams. When the Contractor feels a greater risk of injury is imposed by the use of gloves, or the glove may require HP 140S-8 modification to perform a given task, it shall be documented on the Job Hazard Analysis form.

Nearly cold rolled sheet pile of HP 140S-7 and HP 140S-8 residents live in the areas surrounding the Port of Los Angeles, and the vast majority (nearly 80 percent) are people of color. Shallow unreinforced footing keys shall be proportioned such that the key width is at least twice the key depth. Reference pages 34-35. The HP140S-4 personal protective assessment could be incorporated within the Job Hazard Analysis if each task is specific task is specific to required PPE for that task. Approximately 15 percent of all Harbor households earn less than $35,000 a year. Addition, close to 30 percent of all Harbor residents receive some form of public assistance. About 40 percent of residents do not have a HP140S-5 high school diploma. The face walls shall be securely HP140S-8 anchored to the supporting counterforts or buttresses by means of adequate reinforcement.

The Contractor shall submit a HP140S-4 written HP140S-5 Protective Equipment Assessment for work performed on the project. Furthermore, port-adjacent communities have long been burdened by the environmental effects of goods movement activities. Axial loads (including the weight of the wall stem and frictional forces due to backfill acting on the wall stem) shall be considered in addition to the HP140S-6 bending due to eccentric vertical loads, surcharge loads and lateral earth pressure if they control the design of the wall stems. Final selection of the best hand protection is the responsibility of the Contractor Personal Protective Equipment Assessment.

The California Air Resources Board lists the HP140S-7 Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as the “single largest fixed source of emissions in Southern California. Counterforts shall be designed as rectangular beams. In connection with the HP140S-7 main tension reinforcement of counterforts, there should be a system of HP140S-8 horizontal and vertical bars or stirrups to anchor the face walls to the counterfort.

The personal protective assessment form may be HP 140S-4 incorporated within the JHA to identify specific PPE required for the task(s). Harbor residents are especially vulnerable to diesel exhaust particles coming HP 140S-5 from trucks, cargo ships, and other port-related activities, resulting in increased rates of cancer, premature deaths, and other health problems correlated with air pollution. This section defines the minimum HP140S-6 safety requirements for Contractors who use, handle[PoSU1], or store hazardous materials. These HP 140S-6 stirrups should be anchored as near to the outside faces of the HP 140S-7 face walls, and as near to the bottom of the footing as practicable. Purpose The purpose of the Hazard Communication Program is to inform Contractor employees as well as employees of other Contractors of workplace chemical hazards including the labeling system and use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS[PoSU2]).

HP140S-6 and HP140S-7 raised in heavily polluted areas have reduced HP140S-8 lung capacity, prematurely aged lungs, and an increased risk of bronchitis and asthma than do peers living in less urbanized areas,” according to a HP 140S-8 Natural Resources Defense Council study. Except in gravity walls, not less than HP140S-4 0.20 square inches per foot of height or length shall be provided in the HP140S-5 horizontal and vertical directions near the exposed surfaces not otherwise reinforced to resist the formation of temperature and shrinkage cracks.
