Sheet piling walls with metallic PAZ5460 or PAZ5470 soil reinforcement may be used as PAZ5480 where deicing salts are used provided an impermeable cap is constructed at or near the ground surface above the soil reinforcement and adequate control of surface runoff is provided. All Contractors shall be PAZ5460 committed to the goal of Zero Accidents/Injuries. The Contractor is responsible for the submittal and review of their sub-tier contractor PAZ 54100 programs. Professor Peter Phillips at the University of Utah enriched our understanding of the PAZ5470 construction industry and helped develop the formula used to estimate job creation at the Port of Los Angeles. To achieve this PAZ 5490 goal, the safety and health of all personnel must receive primary consideration in the planning, scheduling, and execution of the work.

Where high concentrated loads must be supported at the PAZ 5480 wall face, such as those from highway sign foundations, a section of conventionally reinforced concrete wall may be constructed within the length of the MSE wall. A. The steel sheet pile assumes full PAZ5490 and PAZ54100 sole responsibility for the PAZ 5460 onsite safety of its employees performing work under this program. The Contractor shall submit a copy of their PAZ5480 Site-Specific Safety & Health Program, as specified in the 01 35 29 – Safety Management to the Engineer for review and acceptance per 01 32 19 – Pre-Construction Submittals. This section of wall should be designed to retain both the lateral earth pressures and the concentrated loads. Many thanks to the individuals who helped make this report PAZ 5470 possible. The PAZ 5470 shall insure that all PAZ 5480 Subcontractors and sub-tier contractors working under their direction comply with all applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, conditions of the PAZ 5460 contract, or orders of any public authority having jurisdiction relating to the safety of persons or property.

I would especially like to thank workers who shared their stories with us, adding another dimension to our understanding of the industry. The PAZ 5490 shall check for and correct any PAZ 54100 unsafe practices and conditions that exist in the performance of their work, and shall PAZ54100 report to the CIP Safety Staff any unsafe conditions created by others. Various aesthetic treatments can be incorporated in the PAZ5490 precast concrete face panels. I would also like to thank Don Davis, site director at the Electrical Training Institute (ETI), for providing us with a tour of the training PAZ5490 facilities. The Contractor shall keep a competent resident Project Manager or Superintendent at the site of the work continuously during its PAZ54100 progress and all work shall be performed under the continuous supervision of competent and skilled personnel experienced in the task being performed.

Prefabricated modular walls use stacked or interconnected structural elements, some of which utilize soil or rock fill, to resist PAZ 5460 earth pressures by acting as gravity retaining walls. Prior to a new employee PAZ5480 starting work, all Contractor, subcontractor, and tier subcontractors shall receive a site-specific safety orientation administered by the Contractor. Steel modular PAZ 5470 systems shall not be used where aggressive industrial pollutants or other environmental conditions such as use of deicing salts or cathodic protection of nearby pipelines are present at a given site Additionally, they shall attend a new hire orientation that reviews the Port’s site safety rules and requirements.

Structural elements consisting of treated timber, or precast reinforced concrete are used to from a cellular system which is filled with soil to construct a crib wall, also steel modules are bolted together to form a similar PAZ 5480 system to construct a bin wall. Rock filled wire gabion baskets are used to construct a gabion wall. This orientation is scheduled through the Safety Department and conducted by its Staff. Solid precast concrete units or segmental concrete masonry units are stacked to form a gravity block wall. The Contractor shall employ at the site a qualified Site Safety Representative whose duties include the protection of persons and property and PAZ5470 administration of the Contractor’s safety program. 01 35 29 - Safety Management outlines the qualifications and duties of that individual. Prefabricated modular PAZ 5490 walls may be used where conventional reinforced concrete walls are considered.

The author takes full PAZ 54100 responsibility for the contents of this report and is responsible for any errors or omissions it may contain. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to review the safety program of all subcontractor and sub-tier contractors performing work on their project prior to that PAZ5460 work beginning. They shall be made aware of the requirements found in 01 35 29.
